About the Program
Jackson Purchase Medical Center has put together a comprehensive bariatric surgery program, utilizing the LAP-BAND^Ž System, which is multidisciplinary in nature, consisting of case managers, nutritionists, physical therapists and more. Patients selected as potential candidates for LAP-BAND^Ž System surgery undergo a thorough medical evaluation and psychological and dietary screening prior to surgery.

The LAP-BAND^Ž System is placed laparoscopically without cutting or stapling of the stomach or rerouting the intestine to bypass normal digestion. The LAP-BAND^Ž System creates an earlier feeling of fullness and limits the portion of food consumed. Because this procedure is less invasive than traditional bypass surgery, it is considered safer and also more economical for patients.
